koralee is an emerging, self-studied, abstract artist. She layers, pushes and scrapes acrylic paint on wood or paper using non-traditional tools, including her body.
i reject the current popular ‘new age’ social construct of ‘positive’ emotions being more valuable than ‘negative’ emotions. i believe that when a feeling is acknowledged, felt, and responsibly expressed it can fuel a mechanism to facilitate powerful change in the individual - and even the world around them.
By removing the tools that separate me from the papers and panels, I allow the movement created by my body’s neural responses to dictate the formation of the images. anger, grief, sadness, and shame become beauty — and healing.
although i see specific themes and images in each piece, i invite the viewer to project their own sensibility and emotionality onto the work.
commissions are welcome.
